Voluptuous Mermaids #1 and #2

These are two of a group of three mermaid designs from Jill Oxton's Cross Stitch and Beading Magazine, Issue No. 51. The charts list four color schemes: green, pink, blue, and purple, in both DMC and Anchor; I chose DMC green for these mermaids.

Chart changes:

I replaced the DMC gold metallic called for in the chart with one strand of Rainbow Gallery's Nordic Gold ND2, which is a more amber gold and much shinier.
I did not like the Anchor-to-DMC conversions for the flesh. The colors were too close together and did not shade well. Here are my conversions; your mileage may vary.

Anchor 1007 - DMC 3772
Anchor 914 - DMC 3773
Anchor 1008 - DMC 3773+3774 (950 is too light in my opinion)
Anchor 4146 - DMC 3774
Anchor 1012 - DMC 3770 (951 is almost indistinguishable from 3774)

I did not like the Anchor-to-DMC conversions for the brunette hair. I used DMC 433+434 for the lighter shade and the original DMC 898 for the darker shade.

I originally started mermaid #1 on 14ct perforated plastic, but I hated it and restarted it on the beautiful teal-green fabric.
